SCYCA Win Both U11 and U13 Championships in the 2023 Memorial Day Tournament

SCYCA U11 and U13 teams triumphed at the 2023 Memorial Day Cricket Tournament organized and hosted by the San Diego Cricket Club Youth Academy (SDCCYA). Both teams won the championship titles in their age categories and remained undefeated throughout the tournament. Our youth cricketers have outdone themselves once more as they continue to turn up and perform their best as individuals and as a team.

U11 CATEGORY

The SCYCA U11 Cubs secured the champion’s trophy within their age category, which consisted of 6 teams. SCYCA U-11 Cubs won their scheduled matches 3-0 and went on to play the semi-final against the SDCCYA Samurais. The Cubs sealed the championship in the final against the SDCCYA Warriors where our young players put in brilliant performances and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

 

 

5/27/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SDCCYA Warriors

The Player of the Match was Aarav Arora for scoring 58 runs off 60 balls. Ahan Sharma also scored 34 runs off 64 balls while Akshay Nidichenametla, Yuvan Sudhakar, and Roshan Jagath took 2 wickets each.

 

 

5/27/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs WYCA Tigers

The Player of the Match was Aryan Arora for scoring 63 runs off 31 balls. Other notable performances include Yuvan Sudhakar scoring 48 runs and Aarav Arora scoring 30 runs not out off 15 balls. Aden Nunes and Rishaan Agwekar took 2 wickets each.

 

 

5/28/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs AZYCA

The Player of the Match was Yuvan Sudhakar for scoring 29 runs off 21 balls and taking 5 wickets 2.3-1-5-5. Rishaan Agwekar scored 29 runs off 20 balls, Ahan Sharma made 59 runs off 41 balls, and Aryan Arora scored 39 runs not out off 20 balls. Veeraj Johal grabbed two wickets.

 

 

5/28/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SDCCYA Samurais – Semi-final

The Player of the Match was Aryan Arora for scoring 46 runs off 31 balls and bowling excellently with a spell of 3-1-4-0. Yuvan Sudhakar scored 45 runs off 75 balls while Aditya Nidichenametla and Yuvan Sudhakar bagged 2 wickets each.

 

5/29/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SDCCYA Warriors – Final

The Player of the Match was Aarav Arora for scoring 92 runs off 72 balls and taking 2 wickets 5-0-19-2. Aryan Arora made 34 runs off 28 balls and Rishaan Agwekar and Aditya Nidichenametla grabbed 2 wickets each.

 

U13 CATEGORY

The SCYCA U13 Cubs crushed their opponents and sailed to victory within their age category consisting of 4 teams. The Cubs put up convincing wins against teams from San Diego, Arizona, and Orange County. SCYCA U-13 Cubs faced off AZYCA at the semi-final and the SDCCYA Bolts at the final in their quest to become the champions at this tournament. Our U-13 Cubs are a force to be reckoned with as they proved themselves to be a dominant and cohesive cricketing unit.

 

 

5/27/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SDCCYA Bolts

The Player of the Match was Om Medandrao for scoring 89 runs off 57 balls as an opening batter. Shritan Reddy Yelal also scored 21 runs off 38 balls. Adit Jain had a fantastic spell with bowling figures of 4-1-6-3.

 

5/27/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SCCAY Grizzlies

The Player of the Match was Om Medandrao for scoring 58 runs off 45 balls. Other notable performances include Anerva Ashok Kumar Sathya scoring 27 runs off 21 balls and Aaryav Jain making 24 runs off 36 balls. Adit Jain also had bowling figures of 2-0-8-1.

 

5/28/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs AZYCA – Semi-final

The Player of the Match was Kian Sahasrabudhe for his 33 runs off 44 balls and his bowling spell of 2-0-5-1. Anerva Ashok Kumar Sathya also scored 29 runs off 41 balls with bowling figures of 1.5-0-4-2.

5/29/2023 – SCYCA Cubs vs SDCCYA Bolts – Final

The Player of the Match was Anerva Ashok Kumar Sathya for scoring 34 not out off 35 balls. Also, Neel Mehta had great bowling figures of 4-2-2-2.

The Memorial Day Cricket Tournament 2023 was a huge success for SCYCA with our budding cricketers winning all their matches in a well-recognized and competitive tournament. This is a admirable achievement and comes with dedication and hard work from the talented players, committed coaching staff, devoted volunteer staff, and supportive parents. Finally, we are grateful to SDCCYA for hosting this tournament.
