Our U15 and U17 athletes persevered through weeks of OCCA matches to achieve the target set by Head Coach Pri DeSilva at the beginning of the season — to reach the OCCA Final. In the process, they triumphed over adults, some of whom were twice or even thrice their age. Every single player contributed to taking the team to the finals against CCL Blues at Glen Yermo ES Field.

SCYCA bowled first, restricting CCL Blues to only 102 runs. Outstanding performances include Rishi Sharma’s 3 wickets, giving away only 12 runs in his 4 overs. Mentor player Andrew also took 2 wickets for 9 runs. An excellent display of fielding by the SCYCA team supported the effective bowling attack. Batting second, SCYCA failed to establish any solid partnerships. However, individual efforts took them close to the target. 8 runs were needed in the last over, but SCYCA fell short by just one run in a nail-biting finish. Though the youth were disappointed, they took the situation as a learning experience and plan to come back stronger in the next Summer League season.
