About Us

Southern California Youth Cricket Academy

Southern California Youth Cricket Academy (SCYCA) is an independent organization founded under the umbrella of Orange County Cricket Association (OCCA), a nonprofit 501.c.3 organization responsible for the development of cricket in Orange County and neighboring regions. The goal of SCYCA is to foster the game of cricket at a grassroots level and create an environment to play the sport in the spirit and tradition in which it is played.

SCYCA is a member of USA Cricket, which is the governing body for the sport of cricket recognized by both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

The dedication and consistent efforts of SCYCA’s volunteers and coaches have been instrumental for the steady development of SCYCA since April 2014, when the organization was founded. SCYCA is currently conducting cricket training geared for all groups, skilled or beginners, from ages 6-19 years. Cricket coaching is offered on weekends and weekday evenings at an affordable cost.

SCYCA is run by a selfless team of volunteers with positive attitudes of giving back to the community. The SCYCA program is year-round and organized into quarters. SCYCA is proud of training over 100+ players at different levels, ranging from fun community games to the national stage. We welcome kids of all ages and genders.

SCYCA primarily utilizes a structured plan that involves developing an organic, small-scale, “bottom-up” process driven by a proactive approach that creates youth cricket clubs and introduces cricket to schools in Orange County at a local level. This has prompted large-scale, “top-down,” planned interventions by USA Cricket (USAC), the national governing body for cricket in the USA, an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). USAC is implementing a coordinated approach to ensure the long-term sustainability of cricket.

Following are the major tournaments organized by SCYCA :

1. Main organizer of Southern California Youth Cricket League (SCYCL) involving three counties: Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego for different age categories.

2. Partnered with North America Telegu Association (NATA) to organize U-11 to U-14 category tournaments involving up to 6 teams from 2015 to 2017.

3. Labor Day tournament – Founded by SCYCA in 2019 up to 6 teams during Labor Day weekend.

SCYCA is a member of USA Cricket, the governing body for the sport of cricket recognized by both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
