On July 15th, SCYCA parents and kids attended the “Hike with the Mayor” event in Irvine. The event started with Mayor Farrah Khan giving a keynote speech about the newly developed public facility in Bommer Canyon. The building, constructed with Ranch-style architecture, has state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor gathering space, a kitchen, restrooms, and a fire pit area. It will be available to residents for private event booking starting August 2023. The keynote was followed by a 2-mile hike with the Mayor and her team. “The goal for this hike was to promote screen free day and to promote social connectedness for residents of Irvine,” said Mayuri Joshi, who attended the event with her son Rian Kale, a member of SCYCA. This event was a great way for SCYCA to solidify its connection with the community.
