Join the Southern California Youth Cricket Academy at their annual Labor Day Youth Cricket Tournament in Orange County, CA this Labor Day weekend. Twenty-three cricket teams across three age categories will compete in T20, 25, and 30 over cricket matches from August 31st to September 2nd, 2024.
Since its inception in 2019, the Labor Day Tournament has grown into a high-caliber, annual event, with this year's fixtures featuring more than 20 youth cricket teams competing across 36 cricket matches. The three-day event will include players from nine different California youth cricket academies.
Southern California Youth Cricket Academy – Since its founding in 2014, the Southern California Youth Cricket Academy (SCYCA) has been dedicated to the promotion of youth cricket in Orange County and its neighboring counties, and is a member of USA Cricket.
San Diego Cricket Club Youth Academy – Located in San Diego, CA, SDCCYA is dedicated to developing and sustaining youth cricket in the region.
Woodley Youth Cricket Academy – A non-profit youth cricket academy located in Southern California.
Southern California Cricket Association Youth – A SCCA-affiliated youth cricket organization located in Southern, CA.
California Cricket Academy – Founded in 2003, the CCA is a cricket academy and youth league for players 6-19 years old.
San Ramon Cricket Association Youth – A Bay Area non-profit dedicated to promoting and developing youth cricket.
Santa Clarita Valley Cricket Academy – A Southern California non-profit that helps youth learn and play cricket.
Dashrath Sankhe Cricket Academy – A San Francisco-based youth cricket academy dedicated to coaching aspiring cricketers.
VK Cricket Academy – Located in the Bay Area, VKCA is a recognized cricket academy under USA Cricket.
The cricket action at the 2024 Labor Day Youth Cricket Tournament will take place at four different locations around Orange County, CA, with six cricket fields in play. All locations are open to the public with free parking available.

The 2024 SCYCA Youth Cricket Tournament will kick off on Saturday 8/31/24 at 8:30 am. Morning matches will start at 8:30 a.m. sharp across the four cricket grounds, followed by the afternoon matches at 1:00 pm. For the full fixtures, visit the SCYCA Labor Day 2024 Schedule on CricClubs.
The long holiday weekend of cricket will culminate in the U11 and U13 Finals at Cypress Community Park in Irvine, followed by a presentation and a closing ceremony. The event will feature city officials and other invitees committed to encouraging and developing youth cricket in the region.
In addition to hosting the cricket event, SCYCA has a contingent of five youth cricket teams competing in the tournament, including blue and red teams in the U11 and U13 categories, and an SCYCA U15 group.
Overall, approximately 125 U11 players, 122 U13 players, and 33 U15 youth cricket players registered to participate, making the SCYCA Labor Day Cricket Tournament one of the largest youth cricket tournaments. The event is intended to function as a platform for young cricket players across all skill levels, genders, ages, and regions to gain real, valuable T20 cricket experience. Each team will have the opportunity to compete in multiple matches in order to practice and reinforce learning of match skills, rules, and strategies.
The nearly 300 registrations and growth of the tournament reveal the importance of providing resources, facilities, and match time for developing cricket players in California and beyond. Since its founding in 2014, Southern California Youth Cricket Academy has been dedicated to nurturing the game of cricket at the grassroots level, and the SCYCA Labor Day Youth Cricket Tournament 2024 exemplifies this commitment to that mission.
